• If Warhol Had Switchboard [windows] [mac] by Jeff Crouse

  If we assume for a moment that Warhol painted Campbells soup cans because they represent a mundane everyday object, then the painting is undermined by the new can design. This is a little example that I presented in my thesis defense to illustrate the potential in real-time art to abstract ideas out of a particlar social/historical context.

• Friends by Annie Lausier

  Parses yahoo tv for cable providers and upcoming friends episodes, a friends xml file, and imdb for guest stars of an episode.

• Interactive Frank by Jeff Crouse

  Interactive Frank is an narrative generator that uses web services to construct a story based on input from the user. The user types in a sentence, and Interactive Frank takes over, scouring the web for another sentence that follows a sentence with the last three words. Frank can also find streaming audio to accompany the generated narrative based on a word analysis, and it can read the narrative using an online text-to-speech generator.

Switchboard is an open source project by Jeff Crouse. It is part of a study of real-time art.
